John Bowman

Work time

John has more than 40 years experience in the aviation insurance market and admits only to entering the business 8 years before the first Boeing 747 jumbo jet entered airline service with Pan American Airways.

His career really took off on becoming the Assistant Underwriter for the Phoenix Assurance Company in 1977. After a decade of company mergers, culminating in 1991 with the formation of the British Aviation Insurance Group (now known as Global Aerospace), John was appointed an Airline Underwriter, responsible for the USA and Canada.

In 1996, he became Deputy Underwriter for Syndicate 53 at Lloyd’s and in 2000, despite all the millennium fears, joined Emilio Di Silvio at the Cox Aviation Syndicate.

In 2002 he went with Emilio’s team to expand the existing account at Allianz Marine and Aviation. He resigned from there in May 2006 to join Emilio once again at QBE and is currently the Airline Underwriter.

John was also a member of the late Joint Technical Clauses Committee becoming Chairman in 1991.

Down time

In his spare time he plays golf and enjoys as much time as possible with his two grandchildren.
