The expertise of the QBE rehabilitation
unit is available to all policyholders in the
event of an employee suffering a significant injury,
regardless of their premium or individual claim
reserve.
The team has a wealth of experience
and is able to offer our insureds an expert and
in-depth professional service. We aim to provide
excellent case management services to clients
by selecting quality service providers and facilitating
good communication and resource management to
promote cost effective outcomes.
Cases are identified through
referral by either the policyholder, or our claims
team. We will then select, implement, co-ordinate,
monitor and evaluate all rehabilitation programmes
to ensure an individual's health, care, educational
and employment needs are met.
We regularly review the rehabilitation
interventions to ensure they continue to be cost
effective and dovetail with our claims handling
strategy. Costs are met by QBE Insurance in the
first instance and incorporated into the claims
experience.
The Benefits of Rehabilitation
Claim valuation
- QBE can exercise control over the treatment/care
that the claimant receives and with the active
involvement of the solicitors, this can assist
when it comes to negotiations over the valuation
of the claim
Return to work
- Early return to work (RTW) and sustainability
within the work place for injured employees
Quality control
- QBE's panel of rehabilitation service providers
are regularly audited and adhere to the stringent
service standards of practice agreed upon when
accepting panel membership
Cost containment
- Costs are capped at all stages throughout
the intervention. If it becomes apparent that
rehabilitation is proving ineffective, a view
may be taken to close the case
Hidden costs - These are the indirect benefits to employers
when we are able to achieve an early recovery.
This promotes a positive attitude in both the
injured person and in the workforce as a whole
as well containing the negative impact on production
and associated costs of absence
