Syndicate 1036 forms part of Umbrella Syndicate 2999, which has a total capacity of £800m for 2009. The syndicate is managed by QBE Underwriting Limited, being one of the largest agent at Lloyd’s with £1.14bn of capacity under management. QBE Underwriting Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of QBE Insurance Group who provides 100% of the syndicate's capacity.

The syndicate underwrites a worldwide account, specialising in the areas of hull, energy, liability, specie, cargo, political risks, war and allied risks requiring underwriters to have a comprehensive knowledge of their clients' businesses and the territories within which they operate. The utilisation of sophisticated IT software and extensive travel enables the syndicate to better analyse and understand its client's needs.
