Road Safety
We are pleased to confirm that the UK Motor Division of QBE has become a Corporate Partner of Brake, the leading road safety charity in the UK. You can find out more by linking into the Powerpoint presentation below
QBE is committed to the promotion of road safety and this venture will provide us with an opportunity to enhance our association with you and your fleet clients to provide improved risk management advice through the Brake "Fleet Safety Forum". Driving is the most dangerous thing that most of us do on a daily basis. Nine people die every day on UK roads and ten times as many are seriously injured. Most of these deaths and injuries could be prevented.
The well-established division of Brake provides guidance, information and best practice case studies on effectively managing road risk to thousands of fleet operators. Also available on-line is the Fleet Safety Forum Benchmarking Tool for Policyholders subscribing to Brake.
This partnership with Brake will provide the opportunity for:
- Free or discounted 1st year subscription to the Brake "Fleet Safety Forum" for selected Fleets
- A wealth of regular Fleet Safety Forum news and literature in hard and soft copy
- Free one-day training for selected fleet managers as part of the Brake 'Road Safety Academy'. This can be carried out locally and all attendees receive a Power Point presentation and resources to enable them to deliver awareness training through a one hour presentation to their driving force based on Brake's 'Pledge to Drive Safely'
Brake's Pledge to Drive Safely is a simple twelve-point plan that all drivers can follow. The twelve "Pledge to Drive Safely" topics are listed below, and each one on the Brake's website is a link that takes you through to essential information and practical tips. We encourage fleet operators to sign up to the Brake Fleet Safety Forum, to read the information and tips on their website and to then click on the pledge underneath to demonstrate a commitment to drive safely and help keep you, your drivers and others safe on the roads:
Pledge to: Belt Up; Wake Up; Sober Up; Slow Up; Look Up; Wise Up; Buck Up; Move Up; Sharpen Up; Shut Up; Back Up; Check Up
- Access to the Brake Fleet Safety Forum Benchmarking Tool
Fleet Safety Benchmarking is a completely free scheme co-ordinated by the Fleet Safety Forum (a division of Brake) and risk management specialists Interactive Driving Systems. It can help you to:
- Carry out effective self audits relating to your fleet safety policies and procedures
- Anonymously benchmark your company's crash data and safety standards with other companies
- Network with other fleet operators.
For more information log on to www.fleetsafetybenchmarking.net
- Invitations to Brake's annual fleet safety events such as
- The Fleet Safety Forum Awards for Excellence
- Road Safety Week
- "Best of Best" Conference
- Fleet Safety Benchmarking Seminar
- There are also opportunities for discussions on the cost of “on-site” audits through our association with Active Risk Management (ARM) to analyse current practices and procedures to comply with Health & Safety law and to provide further recommendations on compliance where necessary.
We aim to promote road safety measures on preventable accidents and to assist with the reduction of the frequency and cost of claims and this initiative will provide fleet operators with the opportunity to build a relationship and create a culture of change within their businesses aimed at enhancing current risk management practise & procedures and to ensure a continual focus on road safety.
We have also sponsored Brake to produce a 6 page information leaflet entitled “Keeping Your Distance” as crashes into the rear of third party vehicles is often high on the list of accident types within fleet claims experiences, on frequency and particularly on cost as so many of these types of incidents will involve claims for personal injury and in particular whiplash type injuries.
