QBE is committed to providing the regional insurance market with access to underwriting excellence. There are currently seven offices located throughout the UK and one in Ireland all with their own dedicated team to support insurance brokers in the core product sectors. We intend to invest further in our operations as a business insurance specialist.
QBE acquires renewal rights for Brit Insurance UK regional operations
There has been much speculation over this acquisition for some time and we are pleased that we can now provide some certainty for our brokers and clients. By bringing the two businesses together we are creating one of the most powerful forces in UK commercial insurance that is committed to a broker-based distribution model.
QBE's existing £320million book of UK commercial business will be greatly enhanced by the addition of Brit's business. Together the merged operations will have ongoing premium income of £500million. The portfolios are complementary: Brit's strengths in property and SME business will work well alongside QBE’s particular strengths in casualty and motor. Both our underwriting teams are highly regarded for their expertise and entrepreneurial approach and together we will continue to offer a local service based on local knowledge to our clients.
We will release more details of how the two businesses will be integrated over the coming months.
