Manager of the month - October 2007

Dave Deugo is the QBE Fantasy Football manager of the month for October, after his team, SelhurstParkFlyer, clocked up an impressive 78 points.

Sutton-based Deugo, who works for Zurich Corporate Real Estates, collected a prize of £2,500 for his achievement, claiming: "I started off with a strong defence, and then I had midfielders that can score and assist, and two strikers who were good goalscorers."

His goals came from Robbie Keane, who collected 18 points and Cesc Fabregas, 17 points, who shone in midfield.

He thinks a surprise partnership in defence consisting of Portsmouth's Sylvan Distin and Herman Hreidarsson was the driving force behind his success.

Deugo, who has worked at Zurich for four years, currently sits in second place in the overall standings.

He said: "If I am in with a chance of winning £30,000 at the end of the season, I won't be able to watch."

As a Crystal Palace season ticket holder, he said he was willing to offer new boss Neil Warnock tactical advice whenever he needed it.
